SUMMER BREAK


* March 28th hosted Huseyin Oylupinar presenting "Historical Reading of Ukrainian Dumy".

 

* March 14th John Sokolowski spoke on Tsvytar: Ukrainian Graves and Churchyards in Alberta.


* March 7th was Stefan Sokolowski speaking on the Local Culture Project.


* February 29th, St.Cassian Day, was celebrated with a viewing of the film "Viy". This film was an adaptation of Mykola Hohol's (Nikolia Gogol's) short story. Hohol based the figure of Viy on Cassian.


* February 22nd was reading week therefore we were on break.

 

* The following week lunch was moved to Tuesday, January 29th when we hosted Burdon, the folk/pop band from Ukraine.


* On February 15th Genia (Jennifer) Boivin spoke on Celebrating Yordan at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village.


* The February 8th lunch was cancelled and, instead, students were invited to visit Dr. Kononeko's classes where our Tuesday public lecture speaker discussed her work on Personal Narratives among Ukrainian Immigrants to Israel.


* Mariya Lesiv spoke January 25th on Neo-Paganism in Ukrainian.


* Dr. Jean DeBernardi spoke January 18th on Religious Syncretism.
