"She’s the same girl that appeared in my 1993 painting Pandora’s Parcel to Ukraine as a thumb-sucking child with a big ‘Soviet girl bow’ on her head. A few years later I painted her in Horseshoes and Waves as a pre-teen with half her hair grown in, sucking her middle finger in an awkward attempt to look sexy.
