AWARDS & DONORS

Graduate Awards

Hello! In accordance with MLCS Graduate Student Guidelines, the Faculty of the Ukrainian Culture, Language and Literature Program expect you—our students—to apply for all grants for which you are eligible. To help you observe this guideline we have organized this page into eight parts:

§  The first one enumerates awards that are administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and for which students in the Ukrainian program may be nominated on the basis of their academic standing.
§  The second part describes the Alberta Ukrainian Centennial Commemorative Scholarship. We strongly encourage residents of Ukraine who are enrolled or planning to enroll  in our program to apply.
§  The third part introduces the doctoral and master's scholarships of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Queen Elizabeth II (doctoral and master's) Scholarships. all four are available only to Canadian citizens or permanent residents.  The SSHRC awards are first adjudicated in MLCS and then in the FGSR before they are sent to Ottawa. The QEII are adjudicated in MLCS and then sent to the FGSR.
§  The fourth part lists the awards for which graduate students in MLCS are considered, when they participate in the General Awards Competition.  These do not have citizenship restrictions.
§ The fifth part lists awards administered by the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS).
§ The sixth part lists awards available from women's learned societies.
§ The last two parts list Travel Awards, available at the U of A, and Other Awards & Travel Grants, which are offered by professional associations as well as the Province of Alberta in support excellent research.
