In October of 1999, Eastern and Southern Mexico suffered a series of terrible floods. The Necaxa Valley was among the places hit by severe flooding, which did extensive damage to the villages of Patla, Chicontla, and San Pedro Tlaolantongo. Three people died and many hundreds of families lost their homes. Below are some photos showing the extent of the damage:
