Portuguese 111 A1 Beginners’ Portuguese I
Portuguese 111 is an introductory course aimed at students with no previous knowledge of the language. Students will be exposed to exhaustive vocabulary, grammatical structures and conversational patterns which will enable them to communicate in Portuguese in various real life situations at a basic level. The course will explore interactive activities which allow students to acquire skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The program will also introduce information about the Lusophone world – linguistic, ethnic and geographical differences of Lusophone countries. The material used explores both variants, Brazilian and European Portuguese.
Portuguese 211 A1 Intermediate Portuguese I
This course is aimed at students with knowledge of the language on a basic level; students who are able to understand and communicate in Portuguese and want to develop their skills into a higher level. Students will have the opportunity to review more difficult structures and to develop their vocabulary, grammatical structures and conversational skills. The goal of this course is enable the students to communicate in Portuguese in various real life situations at an intermediate level, and develop their confidence to speak with native speakers with fluency, clarity, and accuracy. The course will explore interactive activities which allow students to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The program will continue provide information about the Lusophone world and give the opportunity to students to explore both variants, Brazilian and European Portuguese.

Portuguese 112 B1 Beginners’ Portuguese II
The second part of the introductory course is aimed at students continuing from Portuguese 111 or students with some background in Portuguese (formal or informal). The objective of this course is to develop a basic proficiency in oral expression, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. Special attention is given to oral expression (formal and informal), but written skills are also be developed. The material used explores both variants, Brazilian and European Portuguese, which gives to the student the opportunity to learn more widely about linguistic, ethnic and geographical differences of Lusophone countries.
Portuguese 212 B1 Intermediate Portuguese II
This course is a continuation of Portuguese 211. In this course students will continue developing proficiency in oral expression, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. Students will explore more deeply complex structures in Portuguese. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to communicate in Portuguese with confidence, being able to manage an extensive vocabulary with good fluency and pronunciation. Also they are expected to use Portuguese structures properly and show knowledge of the Lusophone culture.
