Linked Lines:
Japanese Women's Texts Through Time

The exhibition will consist of approximately 30 works prepared by Kataoka Shiko, a noted calligrapher and member of the Japan Academy of Arts. The works will present excerpts of Japanese womens' texts covering a period of over 1000 years, including poems, diaries, fiction, and historiography. Each text will be interpreted by Kataoka using a variety of calligraphic styles which will be complemented by appropriate mounting. A catalogue will be available that will give full translation for all texts presented and information about the calligraphic styles.
