GSEC has hosted two conferences in the last three years, Narratives of Citizenship and the 2009 Year-En(d)jambent Symposium.
2010 Year EN(d)JAMBMENT Symposium

Graduate Students of English Collective is excited to announce the second annual Year-EN(d)JAMBMENT Symposium, an opportunity for English Graduate Students to come together as a community to share, celebrate, and enrich our research. Following last years' success, the 2010 Symposium will be a two-day event concluding with a social reception. We welcome presentations by MA and PhD students in all areas of research.
Ways to participate could include (but are not limited to):
- conference-style paper presentations
- creative performances
- informal discussions of research in progress
- poster presentations
- computer slide shows of research materials and questions
- course- or project-based panels (e.g EMiC, MEMI, Popular Print Culture)
- round-table discussions: several students can respond to an article or event
- pedagogy discussions: share your syllabi and teaching experiences
- " disciplinary reflection: why you chose literary studies; autobiographical reflection on your relationship to your work
Come and receive feedback from faculty and your fellow graduate students on term papers, dissertation chapters, upcoming conference papers, or whatever else you're working on! Learn more about your colleagues and their work! Get experience articulating research! Enhance your CV!
The dates for this event are April 13th and 14th, 2010, and it is scheduled to run from 9am to 6pm, including 15 minute breaks between sessions, an hour-long lunch, and a closing reception. Please submit a brief description indicating your topic, preferred presentation format (i.e poster or panel or performance), and co-presenters (if applicable) to assist the committee in grouping panels. Performance and paper panels will be limited to 10 minutes. GSEC will provide a poster presentation workshop in late March.
