Courses 2008-9
NEWS:
I am not teaching in the Fall semester 2009 as I am on parental leave. My next undergraduate courses are scheduled for Winter 2010 and they are:
Philosophy 272 B-1 Feminist Philosophy T/R 1100-1220
Philosophy 433 B-1 Topics in Feminist Philosophy (Feminist Philosophy and Foucault) T/R 1400-1520
2010 will be a banner year for Foucault studies at the University of Alberta. Concurrent with my feminist seminar, Robert Nichols, brilliant new appointment in the Political Science department, will be teaching a seminar on Foucault's intellectual context and its impact on several other fields of study:
POL S 410 TOPICS IN CONTEMPORARY POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY Sem B1 - Foucault and After - This course is an examination of the work of Michel Foucault and its impact on the academy. The first half of the seminar is devoted to a detailed study of primary sources. In the second half we will examine the way in which Foucault has been taken up and critically employed within several fields of study that cut across traditional disciplinary lines, such as postcolonialsim, feminist and queer theory and governmentality studies.
In Fall 2010 our own Chloe Taylor will be teaching another seminar on Foucault's critiques of psychiatry. It's scheduled as Philosophy 448/547 A1 TR 11-12:20.
Imagine if you took all three of these seminars. You could teach your own and save the university some money.
