Current Research
For my PhD project, supervised by Prof. Owen Beattie, I am looking into the forensic taphonomy of burnt human remains. I will be conducting decomposition experiments using human analogue material to map the rates and patterns of decomposition looking at a number of different variables affecting decay. Additionally, my research will look into the faunal disturbance and soft tissue injury identification in burnt remains. A final aspect to my work will involve a critical assessment of methods of recovery of burnt remains with the view to developing systems to enhance information recovery.
