Semio-l is a listserve which has been established to facilitate the dissemination of information among members of the Canadian Semiotics Association and subscribers to its journal, Recherches sémiotiques / Semiotic Inquiry.

In particular, the listserve allows me, the Secretary-Treasurer, or indeed any member, to distribute information to all of the other members in a quick, cost free, and efficient manner.

Most information concerning the Association, the journal, the annual congress, or any other matters pertaining to the Association is to be found at the website:  www.rssi.ca

When information is added or changed on the website, I will inform you of this by means of the listserve, and you can then consult the website yourself.

I do not anticipate this to be a high volume list: its main purpose is to facilitate communications. Your mailbox will NOT fill with messages from this list.

IF, for any reason, you wish to remove your name from the list, just send an e-mail to: majordomo@ualberta.ca with the words "unsubscribe semio-l" in the body of the message.

I hope, however, that you will remain subscribed to the list: this will GREATLY reduce the amount of paper-pushing which I, the Secretary-Treasurer, will have to do. It will also ensure that you will receive all postings concerning the Association and its activities.

The listserve should permit the Association to reach almost all of its members. In those few cases where individuals do not have access to the internet, we will continue to send out print material.
